One Plan for Both Ends of Your Move
The hardest part of moving away is timing: selling here, buying there, and making the dates line up. I'll help you build one plan that covers both, and I'll work alongside your new agent so everyone is on the same page.
Finding a Great Agent Where You're Going
A good agent in your new city makes all the difference. I'll connect you with someone I trust, often through the Keller Williams network, which has agents across the country. I'll pass along what you're looking for and your timeline, so you don't have to start over explaining everything.
Sell First or Buy First?
Selling first tells you exactly what you have to spend on your next home. Buying first means you only move once. Some sellers ask to stay in the home for a short time after closing, which can bridge the gap. Talk with your lender about what's possible for you.
Selling From a Distance
- You don't have to be here. I'll handle showings, updates, and keep you posted every step of the way.
- Sign from anywhere. Most paperwork can be signed digitally.
- Closing options. Your title company can explain how to close from out of state.
- Keep it show-ready. An empty home can still look great with a little staging. White Spruce can help.
Before You Go
- Leave keys, garage openers, and manuals for the new owners.
- Set up final readings and shutoff dates for utilities.
- Keep the heat on in the winter so pipes don't freeze while the home is empty.
- Forward your mail and update your address with your lender and insurance.
Moving away? Book a call and tell me where you're headed. We'll make a plan for selling here and getting you connected there. Also see the full home seller guide.

Common Questions
Can you help me find a real estate agent in another state?
Yes. I'll connect you with a trusted agent where you're moving, often through the Keller Williams network, which has agents across the country. I'll share what you're looking for so you don't have to start over.
Can I sell my South Dakota home after I've already moved?
Yes. Many sellers move first. Most paperwork can be signed digitally, and your title company can explain your options for closing from out of state.
Should I sell first or buy first?
It depends on your finances and timing. Selling first tells you exactly what you have to spend, while buying first means you only move once. We can talk through what fits you, and coordinate with your new agent.
